Queen Tamar ruled over the kingdom of Georgia in Caucasus between 1184 and her death in 1213. Her ruling years are commonly known as the “golden age” of Georgia, she is remembered as “The king of kings and queen of queens”. That says a lot, doesn’t it? She married a Russian prince in 1185, but they divorced two years later and she married a man of her own choice since her first marriage was political (and childless).
She died in 1213 and was declared a saint by the catholic church. And if you believe this fresque painting of her, she was absolutely beautiful.
